The NSC SC Challenges

In honour of National Scrapbooking Day (2nd May), Studio Calico is hosting lots of challenges - each DT member has her own challenge in her blog.

Here's my entries for two of them.

Emily Pitts' self portrait challenge:

It looks like I overlaid two photos, but I didn't. It is my reflection on a window. I was standing on the balcony of our hotel room, looking into the room when I saw my reflection and thought it would make an interesting photo. The stripes over my face are the curtains, you can also see the sofa beside it, and above me, the reflection of a nearby building.

I added a fake cross-processing in PaintShopPro.

Here's the original photo:

You get to double your chances of winning by doing a layout:

Here's my take on Maggie Holmes design challenge. I loved doing this one. It did me good to try doing something so different from my usual style.

I'm back!

Hello again! We went to Brazil to visit my family on the Easter break. Came back feeling reenergised and with yet another crafty hobby. As if I needed more, considering how long I spent obsessing with scrapbooking...

Anyhow while I was in my hometown I saw some cheap, colourfull crochet yarns and couldn't resist. I bought some, plus a crochet needle, and a little pattern booklet. Since Ger from Little Snippets sent me some of her lovely crochet flowers, I've been dying to try to make some of my own. I haven't done any crochet for over 20 years so the results are not great, but it is really addictive and perfect for me, as it is a quick project that can be finished in a matter of minutes.

I'll post better ones when I get a little bit more of practice, but for the time being, I leave you with my PaperPlay entry for this week. Please take a look and participate too. TLF!

Sad news and {not so sad} tears

No PapePlay Challenge this week, in respect of the passing of Kate's beloved mother.

The LO below if about my children (as always), based in a sketch over at the Studio Calico's blog:

Journaling:

"Big sister wins a trophy and a few medals in a Irish Dancing competition.
Little brother cries. He so wants a trophy too.
Big sister lets little brother hold a trophy for a while.
Heaven.
Life couldn't be better."

I love the photos on the right. The cute smile + a drop of tear still in his face. Soooo cute.
